Trainee Dust & Fume Technician (LEV Technician)

Environmental Filtration Specialists (EFS) are a specialist LEV engineering company supporting manufacturers across the UK. We are looking for a trainee to join our team and develop into a fully qualified LEV Technician.
This is a practical role combining site work and office tasks, with structured training and a clearly defined progression pathway from day one.
What you’ll be doing
• Learning to commission, test and balance LEV systems
• Assisting with Thorough Examination & Testing (TExT)
• Maintaining and repairing dust and fume extraction systems
• Fault finding and problem solving on live systems
• Producing reports using Microsoft Office
• Supporting day-to-day operations
What we’re looking for
• Practical mindset and willingness to learn
• Good IT skills (Microsoft Office essential)
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Reliable and positive attitude
• Any industrial/site experience is helpful but not essential
What we offer
• Starting salary £26,000 (approx. £13.45/hour)
• Increase as you progress through structured development stages
• 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday, 7:00am–5:15pm)

Career progression

Year 0–1
Trainee Technician – £26k
Learning core skills, supporting site work, working towards BOHS P600
Year 1–2
Practitioner Technician – £28k
Carrying out servicing, installations, and routine testing independently
Year 2–3
Skilled Technician – £30.5k
Full LEV testing, reporting, and small project leadership
Year 3–4
Advanced Technician – £36k
Commissioning systems, advanced fault finding, client support
Year 4–5
Principal Technician – £42.5k+
Leading complex work, signing off reports, mentoring others, and contributing to business improvement
This pathway is supported by ongoing training, real responsibility on site, and increasing technical depth as you progress.
