Client News: Waste Is The Way Forward

EF Specialists are proud to announce that we have successfully completed a turnkey project for another waste management customer. As part of our support packages for waste processing in Scotland, this specific project was to control the airborne dust for one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management businesses.

The specification for this project we have opted for a T164/11x12L (pulse jet/cartridge) filter unit, c/w 55kW (floor mounted) fan set, pulse controller, anti-static media and rotary valve outlet. The filter unit is fully ATEX compliant and the cleaned air was discharged to external atmosphere via the fan outlet stack, with the collected dust being discharged into a tonne bag via the rotary valve.

We have also installed an AFI (air flow indicator) with protective enclosure, along with 6 manual volume dampers, all in-line with the current HSG258 guidance. We have fitted two additional extract points to be added into the original system. These will provide a certain amount of air changes within the sorting cabin.

This new order cements EF Specialists place as one of the main providers to the waste sector. We are thrilled to provide products and services to a total of seven waste facilities in Scotland. These plants range from waste to energy, glass recycling, WEEE, paper shredding and industrial, commercial and construction industries.

The Scottish government aim to make Scotland a zero-waste society with a circular economy. This means minimising the population’s demand on primary resources and maximising the reuse, recycling and recovery of resources, rather than treating them as waste. An integral part of hitting these targets, is to have efficient process facilities to ensure that all of Scotland targets can be met for achieving sustainable economic growth.
