Case study: Welding Bay LEV System Replacement & Upgrade

Background

Environmental Filtration Specialists have recently undertaken a Full Local Exhaust Ventilation Turnkey Replacement System for a long-standing client in the aerospace industry’s. The project included a new filtration system to protect welding bay operators from carcinogenic weld fumes.

Our experienced survey team recorded an issue with the previous system during our Planned Maintenance inspections, highlighting the inadequate filtration in the existing system. This was fed back to the client during a tracker meeting and works put in place to protect the staff. Environmental Filtration Specialists were trusted with a full design, installation, and commissioning of the new system to ensure the substances were being adequately controlled.

Hazard substances being controlled:

  • Carcinogenic weld fume
  • Iron 5mg/m³
  • Zinc 1mg/m³
  • Chromium 10mg/m³
  • Manganese 0.2mg/m³
  • Nickel 0.1mg/m³
