Case study: Bespoke Dust Control Solution For Lathe Filing Process
EF Specialists were asked by a long-standing client to provide a bespoke dust control design for their next lathe filing process for carbon dust (Non-ATEX). Working with one of our OEM partners we designed, manufactured and installed a new extraction system.
The extraction points will be 2 x 224mm Ø (top) and 1 x 315mm Ø (lower) which will provide adequate extraction for the bespoke grinding table.
In addition to this, we will also supplied 1 x 180mm Ø connection that will serve as additional close range capture of the containment near the source.

The new extraction points were connected via new suitably sized galvanised steel ductwork system. Which conveyed to the LCP cartridge filter unit (pulse jet) c/w 2 off x 11Kw extract fans (roof mounted) installed.
The cleaned air was discharged to external atmosphere via the weatherproof fan outlets and the collected dust will be discharged into 2 x 1 tonne bags.
We have also supplied and installed a bespoke (3-sided) extraction booth (2.3m H x 4.1m W x 2.7m D). This booth/enclosure was supplied with a roof to allow for the overhead crane to move parts in and out as required.

Upon completion of the works and a short running period, the system was commissioned to ensure the design parameters were being met from the specification.
