Inspection advice on Thorough Examinations during Covid-19
The HSE recognises the potential challenges when carrying out legal requirements for thorough examination and testing (TE&T) of plant and equipment as a result of additional precautions people need to take to help reduce risk of transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
COSHH Regulations still apply during the Covid-19 outbreak. If your business is still operating as an essential service, you will continue to have an obligation to comply with COSHH and manage the risk of exposure to hazardous substances.
This includes regulation 9 to carry out thorough examination and testing on LEV plant. If you cannot source a service to carry out the testing in this time, then you must assess if this essential work equipment/process is still acceptable to use (the hazardous substance exposure is being adequately controlled) via a risk based analysis.
